Health & Wellbeing

Health and wellbeing are often defined as the absence of negative things, such as mental distress and physical illness. Wellbeing is a complex combination of a person's physical, mental, emotional and social health factors, and is strongly linked to happiness and life satisfaction. Human health and well-being depend also on the natural environment, which is the source of clean air, water, healthy soils and food.

Contact with, and psychological connection with the natural world are both associated with health benefits. To date though, the evidence base has been fragmented. In April 2020 the Journal of Environmental Psychology published a study that demonstrated contact with nature was indeed associated with better health.

In this section of the website, we will post information about health-related matters that may be of interest to visitors.
